Notes from the Back…

Hey there! Been digging in the crates the past few weeks and finding music that I haven’t listened to in the longest time. It’s been great…I highly recommend you do that. Go back in time and find that album you used wear out back in the day.

1. We are one week closer to C3 announcing the Lollapalooza and ACL Fest lineups. San Francisco’s Outside Land Festival just released their line-up with two big names being tossed around as headliners for ACL Fest. Austin band, The Heartless Bastards and sometimes Austin resident, Ryan Bingham, are also on the list. The puppet intro makes me want to go; the fact the Black Eyed Peas are playing makes me want to stay far away.

2. Former Austin punk/emo drummer and bad ass chef, Ben Parks is killing it in Portland.

3. In case you haven’t heard, Saturday, April 18th is the second annual Record Store Day. Record Store Day is a now global event boasting the participation of over 1,000 independent record stores worldwide all in recognition and celebration of the profound impact indie music retail has had on the music you hear today. All these independent record stores are having a good time with performances, sales and giveaways. Go have some fun and get some music!

4. Only a couple days left with this week’s Backline Show featuring The Von Bondies, William Fitzsimmons and The Gin Riots. Look for this week’s show on Thursday featuring SXSW interviews with Cary Brothers and The Urgency, plus an interview with singer songwriter Chris Hawkes.
